God’s Word to God’s People

The Bible Colleges and Seminaries of Niger educate future servant-leaders for the Church in Niger. These schools have joined together in an organization called CITAF-Niger to support each other and to coordinate fundraising. These schools are

Owned by the Nigerien Church

Run by Nigeriens

Supported by Nigeriens

Taught in the local language - mostly Hausa, the first language of about 50 million people

The professors of these schools have been faithful for many years teaching God’s Word to those who will lead and serve God’s church in Niger. Let’s help them going forward to continue this good work.

Housing for Students and Faculty

This is the highest priority for most of the schools. Some of the housing dates from the 1960’s and needs repair of walls and additional rebar. The students often have their families with them and do their own cooking. Thankfully, the schools need additional housing for their growing student body.

Classroom Repair and Expansion

The classrooms in these CITAF schools vary in quality. Some require new roofs and others need better student seating, blackboards and other learning tools.

Irrigation and Gardens

Faculty and students also grow their own food and tend animals. Irrigation systems can vastly improve their output of food and give them more time to devote to their studies. All the schools are seeking funding for oxen and a renewable fertilizer bank for their farming, as well as small animals such as sheep and goats for student sustainability. Additional farmland is also being sought for the schools.

Water and Sanitation

Niger is a dry land. Some of the schools need to replace their essential wells and water tanks. Others need additional latrines.

Solar Powered Electricity

Some of the schools have city electricity; others must generate their own if the students might be able to work after dark. Note the dark entryway in this photo. Niger is a sunny land and solar systems readily available. Even so, the blowing sand is a challenge to any electrical system and regular maintenance and spare parts are essential.

In the more rural locations, a wall is essential to deter thieves and establish property boundaries for privacy and ownership.

Library Resources

All the schools are seeking additional books and resources in Hausa for their libraries. They would like to purchase existing books, translate key resources, and write new material.
